Erica specializes in municipal representation and litigation, focusing on defending municipalities across a wide range of cases, including personal injury, employment law, and complex matters involving land use, civil rights, and constitutional issues. She also handles code enforcement prosecutions and appeals, also serving as a special magistrate in several jurisdictions. Additionally, Erica is experienced in legislative drafting, having been engaged to assist in preparing legislation related to building and construction codes for consideration by the State legislature. Her involvement in legislative enactments remains an integral part of her practice as she works with local governments to advocate for legislative change.

Erica is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator and holds Board Certification from the Florida Bar in City, County, and Local Government Law.

Background & Experience

Originally from San Diego, California, Erica’s upbringing in a military family afforded her the unique opportunity to live in various parts of the U.S. and abroad. These experiences eventually led her to Auburn University in Alabama, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Erica’s early career in financial services sparked her interest in law, prompting her to pursue a legal education.

Erica earned her dual J.D./M.B.A. from Stetson University College of Law, along with a Certificate of Concentration in Advocacy. During her time at Stetson, her passion for litigation was honed as a member of the prestigious, nationally ranked Mock Trial Team. She also earned the Victor O. Whele Award for trial advocacy and the Leadership Development Award. Further enhancing her courtroom skills, Erica attended the Academy of the Advocate at St. Andrews in Scotland, where she trained under a distinguished faculty that included Judge Ken Starr and Federal District Judge Ed Kinkeade.

Erica is admitted to practice law in Florida, including the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Clearwater Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Florida Municipal Attorneys Association, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Tampa Bay Auburn Club.
